Interview Highlights
Location
El Zol Radio Station, DMV Area
Date

An Unforgettable Experience
Walking into El Zol Radio Station felt like coming home. The energy, the warmth, and the genuine interest in our story reminded us why we started Tz'ikin Cafe in the first place—to share authentic Salvadoran coffee culture with our community.
During the interview, we had the chance to talk about what makes our coffee truly special. It's not just about the beans—though our direct partnerships with small-scale farmers in El Salvador ensure exceptional quality. It's about the stories, the traditions, and the love that goes into every cup.
Demonstrating Our Craft
One of the highlights of the visit was getting to demonstrate our coffee preparation live on air. We brought our equipment and freshly roasted Salvadoran beans, and the aroma quickly filled the studio. You could see the hosts' faces light up as they caught their first whiff of that rich, volcanic-soil-grown coffee.
We prepared several of our signature drinks, including our traditional Salvadoran-style coffee and our popular Horchata Latte. The hosts were amazed by the complexity of flavors—the chocolate notes, the caramel sweetness, and that distinctive brightness that comes from high-altitude Salvadoran beans.
What Makes Our Coffee Special
- Direct Trade Partnerships: We work directly with small-scale farmers in El Salvador, ensuring fair compensation and sustainable practices
- Volcanic Soil: Our beans are grown in the rich volcanic soil of El Salvador's highlands, creating unique flavor profiles
- Traditional Methods: We honor traditional Salvadoran coffee preparation while incorporating modern specialty coffee techniques
- Cultural Connection: Every cup tells the story of Salvadoran heritage and the families who grow our coffee
The Hosts Loved It!
The best part of the entire experience was watching the El Zol team taste our coffee. Their genuine reactions—the surprised smiles, the appreciative nods, the requests for seconds—reminded us why we're so passionate about what we do.
"This is incredible!" one host exclaimed after trying our signature blend. "You can really taste the difference—it's so smooth and rich." Another host mentioned how it reminded them of coffee they had in El Salvador, which was the ultimate compliment for us.
They were particularly impressed by our Horchata Latte, a fusion of traditional Salvadoran horchata with our premium espresso. It's drinks like these that showcase how we honor tradition while creating something new and exciting.
Connecting with the Community
Beyond the coffee itself, the interview gave us a platform to talk about our mission: bringing authentic Central American coffee culture to the DMV area while supporting sustainable farming practices and fair trade.
We shared stories about the farmers we work with—families who have been growing coffee for generations, who take pride in their craft, and who are committed to producing the highest quality beans while caring for their land and communities.
The response from listeners was overwhelming. We received messages throughout the day from people who heard the interview and wanted to try our coffee, learn more about our story, or share their own connections to El Salvador.
What's Next
This interview was just the beginning of our partnership with El Zol. We're excited to announce that we'll be returning to the station soon with something very special—new beans we brought back from El Salvador that are creating quite a buzz in the specialty coffee world.
These beans are highly rated in El Salvador and feature a unique characteristic: they're infused with authentic Salvadoran honey during processing, creating a flavor profile unlike anything we've offered before. Stay tuned for more details about our next El Zol appearance!
Thank You, El Zol!
We're incredibly grateful to El Zol Radio Station for giving us the opportunity to share our story and our coffee with their audience. The warmth and enthusiasm we experienced reminded us of the power of community and shared culture.
¡Gracias, El Zol! We can't wait to come back and share more amazing coffee with you!
